Across much of Southeast Asia, a broken fan is not thrown away. It goes to a repair shop, the motor is swapped, and the fan goes back into service for another two or three years.
That creates a market structurally different from the appliance-OEM market. OEMs select by power, certification and batch cost. The repair market selects by whether the motor will fit. One reads a parameter sheet; the other reads a dimension sheet and model coverage.
We are a manufacturer-trader of fan motors, with our factory in Guangdong, serving repair-part wholesalers, fan assemblers, marketplace sellers and service chains.
Who buys | Repair-part wholesalers, fan assemblers, marketplace sellers, service chains |
|---|---|
What they need | Dimensional fit, model coverage, small quantity per model, fast replenishment |
What kills the deal | Hole pitch or shaft mismatch, model numbers that change between shipments, unpredictable lead times |
Order shape | Several models per container, modest quantity per model |
How we support | One-round reply to the dimension sheet, multi-configuration on one platform, packing plan worked out together |
A technician has one fan on the bench and one chance to make it work. If the new motor does not match, the fan is scrap and the part is dead stock.
"Drop-in" is therefore a set of dimensions that must match the original motor. The nine dimensions below are what we confirm before quoting, and they cover most of the reasons a motor fails to fit.
# | Dimension | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
1 | Mounting hole pitch (centre-to-centre) | The most common cause of a failed fit |
2 | Shaft diameter and tolerance | The blade hub is already broached to size and cannot be corrected on site |
3 | Shaft length and flat/spline position | Determines where the blade sits inside the guard |
4 | Stack thickness / body diameter | Determines clearance inside the motor housing |
5 | Foot-to-shaft-centre height | Affects fan head alignment and oscillation |
6 | Rotation direction (CW/CCW, viewed from shaft end) | Wrong direction means no airflow and a certain return |
7 | Number of speed taps and lead colours | The wiring harness must match the original |
8 | Capacitor value and mounting position | External-capacitor models are common in the region |
9 | Lead length and terminal type | Plug-in connectors and screw terminals coexist across markets |
Hole pitch and the shaft interface are the two most frequent trouble spots, because they are mechanical interfaces that cannot be adjusted on site. Our practice is to confirm hole pitch and shaft diameter first, then complete the rest through the dimension sheet.
These dimensions vary by brand and by model year. Actual values must come from measuring the physical motor. We do not publish "typical deviation values", because a deviation figure without a specific model has no engineering meaning.
Fill this in and send it with your inquiry. It also works as a downloadable reference for repair chains. With a complete sheet, we can usually reply in one round with matching platforms, differences and a quotation.

We do not know the exact sales mix of each market, and we do not recommend copying another buyer's model list. The three-step method below comes from our actual practice of working through dimension sheets with repair-part wholesalers. It is offered as a reference.
Step 1: Count the fans you are already repairing. Group them by size and type, and record how often each group appears within a month. This is closer to your real demand than any market report.
Step 2: Measure a sample of old motors from each group. Record each item on the dimension sheet in Section 2, focusing on hole pitch and the shaft interface. If one group shows several hole pitches or shaft lengths, it needs to be split into several configurations.
Step 3: Rank by "how many units covered" versus "how many configurations needed". Start with groups that cover many units with few configurations; these usually load and turn over more efficiently, though the final call depends on your own replenishment rhythm. Groups with few units and many configurations can go into a later batch.
This method suits buyers who already have a stable repair volume. Buyers new to the market should start with a small trial order and build the statistics from there. Once we have your list, we can confirm platform matches, suggest configurations and propose a mixed-container plan.
A mixed container works when one platform supports many configurations. We keep the same stator/rotor platform and vary only shaft, bracket, lead length and winding, so modest runs per model remain economic on a scheduled basis.
Consolidated shipments. A 40HQ holds roughly 68 m³. Motors pack densely, so the constraint is usually carton count and weight rather than volume. We plan the mix to stack to full pallet height and work this into the packing plan.
Kitting. Ship the motor with its capacitor, 3-speed switch and, where relevant, the gearbox. The order value rises, and the technician completes the repair from one box.
The economics depend on the mix, not on the quantity of any single model. Share your model structure, quantities per configuration and expected replenishment rhythm before ordering, and we can give you a meaningful production and quotation plan.
What is the minimum order for a mixed container?
Catalogue models have their own minimums, and configured variants are quoted per project. For a mixed programme we agree a shipment schedule and a per-model quantity upfront, because the economics depend on the mix rather than on a single number.
Can you match an existing motor from a photo and a ruler?
Usually yes, if the photo includes hole pitch, shaft diameter, shaft length and the nameplate. For high-volume items, one physical sample removes all ambiguity.
Do you print the buyer's brand on the motor and carton?
Yes — nameplate, individual box and master carton. Private label is standard for this trade, and we produce to the artwork and language you provide.
Are 60 Hz versions available for re-export to the Philippines?
Yes, on the same frames. Specify the destination market at quotation stage, not at shipment stage, so winding and nameplate are correct the first time.
Are you a factory or a trading company?
Both — manufacturer-trader. Our factory is in Guangdong, and our export team works directly with buyers on the dimension sheet and the order. Quotation, sampling and inspection run within one system.
What if I cannot measure the dimension sheet accurately?
Use a repeatable method: hole pitch as the centre-to-centre distance, shaft diameter averaged from several points along the shaft with a caliper, shaft length from the shoulder to the shaft end. Put a ruler in the photo as a reference. If doubt remains, a physical sample is the most reliable route.
Send photos of the three motors you sell most, with hole pitch and shaft dimensions. We will confirm which platforms match, propose a mixed-container split, and quote motors and parts together.
